Clinical trials are research studies designed to investigate the efficacy of new therapies, vaccines, or diagnostic procedures, or new ways of utilizing known treatments, with humans as participants. On Saturday, 13 August 2022, to mark the launch of the Clinical Research Center at Siloam Hospitals Group, MRIN President, Prof. dr. Irawan Yusuf, Ph.D. and the Chairperson of MRIN Ethics Committee, Prof. Dr. dr. SuryaniAs’ad, M.Sc., Sp.GK, were invited as speakers at the Hybrid Seminar titled Raising Awareness: Engagement in Clinical Research for Future Healthcare Transformation. The Seminar was held as a form of collaboration between the National Center of Genomics Medicine (NCGM) in Japan, and Siloam Hospitals Group.

On this occasion, Prof. Irawan discussed the role of clinical research in medical practices, and in the afternoon session, Prof. Suryani reiterated the importance of ethical conduct in her talk entitled Ethical Principles in Clinical Research. Following the Seminar, on Monday, August 15, delegates from NCGM, Ms. Sonoda and Ms. Siburian visited MRIN to discuss ongoing and future collaborations. The visit was concluded with a tour of Siloam Hospital in Lippo Village, in which the guests were received by dr. Jeffrey Oeswadi, the hospital’s director.
